Interior Design in Dubai: Exploring the Magic and Luxury of Dubai's Interiors
Recently, I returned from a trip to Dubai, and it was nothing short of an adventure. What inspires my design style? For me, it’s always about travel. Every new city, every experience, adds to the tapestry of my design perspective. During my week in Dubai, I immersed myself in the city's unique design landscape. From modern luxury to traditional elegance, Dubai is full of inspiration, and I can’t wait to share my journey with you.
The W Hotel: A Perfect Blend of Modern Luxury and Heritage
We stayed at the W Hotel, nestled near the Palm, and the moment I entered the reception, I was met with a striking display of mosaic tiles and wooden beads hanging from the ceiling. A magic carpet design, gradually turning into jewels, set the tone for the vibrant atmosphere. It was a bold mix of luxury and vibrancy, creating an unforgettable first impression.
The bedroom featured a beautiful media wall with art deco influences, complemented by a bespoke bar and bed. The fragrance of oud vanilla filled the space, adding to the luxurious feel. The bathroom was equally impressive with its dark green tiles and walnut features. The Arabic lights hanging by the bed were the perfect touch, blending modern aesthetics with rich heritage.
Exploring Dubai’s Interior Concept Stores: Koncrete and Dubai Mall
One of the highlights of our trip was visiting Koncrete, a concept coffee store designed entirely out of—yes, you guessed it—concrete. The high ceilings, paired with beautiful fabrics hanging down, gave the space a grand yet minimalist feel. The centre of the store featured a dug-in circular seating area with dark green fabrics that created a warm, inviting atmosphere. The smell of fresh coffee added to the experience.
We also explored Dubai Mall and discovered some incredible interior design stores that offer a glimpse into the city’s luxurious design scene. Dubai is home to a variety of high-end stores and unique concept stores, each showcasing innovative design that blends the modern with the traditional.
Unique Interiors at La Nena and Dining at Asia Asia
On my birthday, we stumbled upon a hidden gem—La Nena, a restaurant and concept store that embraced organic design. Clay, sand, and stone were used throughout the space, and the earthy tones created a grounding atmosphere that felt like home. Their unique interior accessories were a testament to Dubai’s ability to seamlessly merge natural materials with luxury design.
For my birthday meal, we dined at Asia Asia, which overlooked the Marina. Upon exiting the lift, I was greeted by hundreds of tiny figures lit by candlelight, adding an intimate yet dramatic touch to the ambiance. The food and interiors were exceptional, and the experience was one I’ll always remember.
Abu Dhabi’s Louvre: A Stunning Architectural Marvel
On the last leg of our trip, we took a day trip to Abu Dhabi to visit the Louvre. The building itself is a spaceship-like, curved masterpiece that is as much a work of art as the exhibits inside. Light pierced through the ceiling, creating spectacular beams that hit the ground. The museum is built on top of water, which only added to its allure and beauty.
Afterward, we explored more interior concept stores in the city, finding unique and one-off places that further expanded my design inspiration. For anyone visiting Dubai, I highly recommend renting a car to fully explore these hidden gems and experience the diversity of Dubai’s interior design.
