Soho House Amsterdam: Where Tradition Meets Modern Comfort

A Warm and Timeless First Impression

The entrance was dark and inviting, with just the right amount of moodiness. It was the kind of space that draws you in without trying too hard. As the revolving doors closed behind me, I was already noticing the materials, colours, and calm that the reception exuded.

Rooms That Balance Comfort and Detail

When I walked into my room, it felt like every element had been chosen to create both warmth and elegance. Floor-to-ceiling walnut panelling gave the space a timeless edge, while deep greens, muted reds, and soft neutrals tied everything together.

In the corner stood the centrepiece: a bronze freestanding bath that felt like an invitation to switch off completely. Paired with the full-size Cowshed products (yes, I made the most of them), it added a sense of indulgence without feeling over the top.

Layers of Texture and Thoughtful Craftsmanship

The room felt curated but not forced. Textured geometric curtains softened the space, while the deep blue bed frame brought in a touch of colour. The herringbone wood flooring, a nod to classic craftsmanship, added natural warmth underfoot.

Details like brushed gold accents on the lamps and mirrors were subtle but elevated the room just enough. It was a reminder that great design doesn’t shout; it simply works.

A Rooftop With a View

On the rooftop, a pool with panoramic views of Amsterdam was the unexpected surprise that took the experience up a notch. Standing there, looking out over the city, I felt the same sense of balance—grand buildings sitting comfortably alongside Amsterdam’s energy and character.

Comfort, Colour, and Texture in Every Corner

Every space within Soho House Amsterdam felt considered. The bar areas were a mix of rich fabrics, layered textures, and carefully chosen artwork. Nothing felt too perfect or too polished—it was beautiful, but it felt lived in.

It’s this mix of tradition and modern comfort that stood out to me. Spaces that feel timeless but also warm and welcoming, where every detail contributes to how the space makes you feel.

A Thoughtful Blend of Old and New

Soho House Amsterdam proves that design can embrace both the past and the present. From the walnut panelling and herringbone floors to the rooftop pool and curated details, the space brings together the best of both worlds.

It’s not about following trends or making bold statements. Instead, it’s about creating a feeling—one of comfort, texture, and timeless style.
